Gypsy Unity theme picking pattern

Hey guys I am wondering if you can help me with the picking pattern for Angelo's run here starting at 0:36. It doesn't sound to me like he is doing any pull offs but I do see his hand come to a rest a couple of times when he is clearly changing notes so it seems that he must be. I also feel really weird playing it staright DUDU because the stronger beats become upstrokes.

The best sounding/feeling pattern I have been able to come up with is starting each string change with double downstrokes so DDUDUDU or perhaps using a pull off for that second note.

Any thoughts before I spend countless hours drilling this into my hands?

Use the toggle to slow it down to 50% speed on youtube. You can probably figure it out this way. I've transcribed dozens of Angelo tunes - but not this one! He's definitely doing a few pull offs in there though.
