European cities with great gypsy scene

Hi guys,

I suddenly have some months free as I am graduating earlier than expected. I thought it would be a good opportunity to live in another European city for a while and why not one where the gypsy scene is good with a lot of jams - in Scandinavia the scene is very limited. Other than that it would also be a plus if it is not a very expensive city (even though everything is kinda cheap compared to Denmark) - I think Paris is too expensive also and probably very difficult to find a place to stay. I was thinking about Berlin or Barcelona, but maybe there are some Eastern European cities as well?

What do you say? Do you have some recommendations?

it depends what style of gypsy jazz you like best... if you go to brussels, there are some incredible musicians in the style of django who are also knowledgeable about eastern european music, they are not known in the GJ community, but they are absolutely incredible musicians. Also u'd be close to tcha limberger

Sorry, but nothing compares to Paris. It's the Mecca!

And, it's not too expensive. London for example is much more expensive (and the gypsy jazz scene is shite!)

Maybe it's just my prejudice against Paris that it should be shit ass expensive as that what you are always told. There is no doubt Paris is the place to be. I think as my decision to do this is kind of spontanous it has more to do with the housing situation being easy. But yeah should definitely follow the dream of going to Paris if the opportunity arises. Yeah, London is out of the question for so many reasons
