Hi all,
I was thinking it would be nice to have a thread for people to post videos and the like of things they are working on, or indeed are a finished product. I found some great motivation from sharing a video of mine in the past, and figured others might do the same. So, feel free to share in this thread any videos of yourself, as this simple act of putting yourself out there can be a great motivator.
(If this is a crap idea, Mods, feel free to rid this thread from the interwebs!)
I'll kick off with a little vid of me playing Honey Suckle Rose, with Stochelo's solo from the Rosenberg Academy. I've been learning it over the past couple of weeks and have got a lot from this solo in particular, especially the ii-v-i licks that are found within it. Recording it has highlighted quite a lot I need to work on, but two I shall be focusing on in my immediate practice are octaves (more power and confidence) and breathing. I discovered that when trying to record, I would hold my breath on the tricky parts (I don't do this when I'm not trying to record a video), the result being panicky phrasing afterwards. I really tried to overcome this in the last video take.

What's the guitar? You're getting really clean tone out of it, not a touch of buzz to be found.
I subscribed for the one month subscription on two occasions so far. Each time I choose a couple to learn and then, when I feel I understand the technique behind them well enough, go off and woodshed and analyse the licks. I find it a really good site as I can dip in and out when I need to. I'm just trying to get the licks at the moment and understand the language! I've also been working on "in the style of Gonzalo Bergara" from DC music. I learnt Coquette but found that a bit more difficult as it's a bit more "outside" than the stuff I've encountered so far at the Academy.
Now just for fun, change the solo around. Combine the A of the first chorus with the A of the second chorus. Or even the first half of an A with the second of another A. Combine bridges, etc. Then try doing that on the fly and BAM you have your own improvised solo with the material found in the transcription!
Very nice playing. Kudos to both of you.
