No question, that section's initially in D. Rhythm player might be putting an A in the bass. Of course A6/9 and D6/9 when voiced in 4ths - as they are on the guitar usually - share a lot of notes, but only D makes sense.
The Eb7b9 tritone sub for A7 at the end of the intro kinda proves it. Try going from there to A6/9, doesn't feel like a resolution, does it? Go to D6/9, on the other hand ...
Yeah that half speed function on SS really helps. You can loop sections too. If anyone wants to finish it in SS go ahead and take it over. I'm sure I won't have time right now.
