Rhythm critique (again)

I've been experimenting with different styles. Tchavolo Hassan, Angelo Debarres rhythm player, seems often to have an upstroke on both the 1 and the 3. Any suggestions?

i would suggest paying attention to the 2 and 4 to start with.. it's quite weak compared to your 1 and 3.. i think it should be at roughly the same dynamic level, just not the same kind of attack
