Looking for feedback!

Hi!

I've been playing gypsy-jazz for a couple of years and I would like any kind of feedback on this video (I play sax).

Thanks!

  • I know. It's not my video, and the guy that took it with told me he doesn't know how to fix it. I was hoping for feedback on my playing.

You sound great but really that audio isn't doing you any favors.

I tried to watch it and couldn't get through 30 seconds. It sounded like the sax was laughing at me and perhaps the whole thing was a joke, hopefully due to poor sound quality. I also expect a little professionalism and think that the musicians, even buskers, might dress a little more classy. I somehow gave it a second listen without watching and it did sound like there is some potential.

Yeah hard to tell much with that recording but sounds like some potential. Try to post a better clip. Plus one on the attire as well. You'll probably get more tips if you clean it up a bit and also if your goal is to get more private gigs out of it show yourself off a little more pro.
  • Some wise musician once told me, you only get one chance to make a first impression. its important to make the best of it if one is playing in an area where there are a number of other musicians vying for work in the same field.

  • You guys convinced me to take the video down. I'll post a few better ones in the next few days.

I gotta say I'm a little taken aback with the comments and critique on attire.
I actually made a comment earlier which I thought was very harmless but it looks like it got removed.
If someone showed up like that to play a hired corporate gig that'd be one thing but to me busking and frayed and/or frazzled look kinda go hand in hand. At least I don't recall ever seeing someone busking dressed sharp business casual and if I ever went to perform on the street I'd surely "dress down".
But well done cleaning it up in that other video guys!

I agree that the responses in this thread have been disappointing. A guy has the courage to put himself out there looking for feedback, and people insult his clothing and production quality.

    Insecure much, folks?

Sorry, Danny, I don't have much to offer you as I am not anywhere near as experienced in Gypsy Jazz as some others on here, and you (and Dani) are clearly playing at a level far above my own. Keep it up.

(And as I've mentioned to Dani elsewhere, I much prefer the Sunny Side video!)

  • I don't take it to heart. I could've explained where we were and the situation (not exactly what it seems), but who cares. I just think it's a little funny that almost nobody commented on the good quality video, but again, no one owes me anything, and I appreciate people taking the time to listen. Thank you for the note, and I'm glad you liked it. I'll post a dew more in the next few days.
