LA has plenty of players I believe. There's even a shop in Laguna beach. Check out ****.com for the location. Stop by there and chat with the owner and I'm sure he can steer you in the right direction. I believe Scoredog on this forum is down there as well.
Jeff Radaich lives in Long beach, and I know he's a good teacher.

Thee are quite a few players in the LA, Orange county area. As Anthony mentioned ****.com which is ****'s place. There are a number of players in Long Beach, check "The Black Market Trust" with Jeff mentioned above with Chris Irwin. In the Pasadena and San Fernando Valley area there is Nahum Zdybel, who I know teaches (mostly Trad jazz but very capable), John Reynolds (also Trad Jazz), Ray Bergstrom, Patrick Ciliberto (was Gonzalo's rhythm player many years ago) and probably a host of others I don't know or am forgetting. I am a bit north of LA County in Santa Barbara so probably a little too far away.

In fact, I may have to take a trip down to LA one of these days. It seems like there's quite a scene down there !
