    As far as pick gauge it's more of a personal preference. I'm convinced you don't anything over 2mm, even that is too thick for me, but others including Rino, and it doesn't get much more of an authority than him plus he proves it with his sound, are convinced you need a really fat pick.
    Although I went with fat Wegen for a few years before I turned around.
    It's sort of old school/new school style.

  • Some play thinner, some thicker, it's a personal thing which is different for each person and even each guitar for some. IMO a pick should be a help in getting the sound one wants. I play different pick shapes on my two guitars to get the sound I want from each. I don't pick any differently as far as I can tell.
    The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
