In that Stephan's video you can see him hitting a foot pedal at the end of his lead playing, most likely I'm thinking to switch off the pickup output at which point he's only using the contact mic which looks like either Schertler dyn or perhaps Ischell both of which are priced at premium by the way.

  • I like the Definity with reservations. It sounds better to me than the Bigtones on my partner's Eimers. But then again his Gitane Jorgenson sounds better to me than his Eimers. It's a fairly natural sound while still sounding like a pickup. I've used it with Gitane 250M and Dupont MD 30 with Baggs Para through PAs and through Fishman Loudbox Pro(with and without Baggs). Thus far I like the Fishman after only maybe a dozen gigs. I prefer the AT 70 clip on's sound and have mixed but the blend but haven't really spent much time on it. The blend seems to end up sounding like a pickup! I stand and sing so it's a hassle being wired to the mic with cables clipped together and hanging out of my pocket. Mobility isn't great. The AT sounds great tho if convenience isn't an issue.
    My 2¢.

I've always been satisfied with my Schertler setup. Not a pure mic sound but close enough and way less feedback issues. Not nearly as harsh or edgy as the piezos IMO.
