    Hmmmm........need to think on that one Al, but intuitively makes sense. More to guitar response than just the string though. Also top mass and bridge mass must by definition take longer to be accelerated.

    The more mass the slower the acceleration for the same energy. We are talking ms here or possibly even micro seconds.
    The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

    The perception of response in a stringed instrument is all about micro seconds. So yeah. String return also involves the parameters that include the mass and cavity resonance and distribution of mass and etc. Its all factored in. The complexity of the problem is one of the reasons its not completely understood or discussed .
