And Natalie Cole too. I'm in, the man dress, Ziggy , androgeny,Thin White Duke, that 80's Let's Dance/China Girl look, Bing Crosby, oh, and a dozen songs that are still on the radio. He may not have courted the intelligencia , but he sure made his mark in entertainment history . Diamond Dogs was one of the first albums that showed me how there was heavier rock music other than the sort played over the airwaves. And how may people here who started as rock guitarists have played the Ziggy Stardust and rebel rebel riffs more than a few times. Hot tramp, I loved you so !
Thanks for posting this. This was very hard for me personally. Long before I even knew who Django was, much less ever picked up a Sel-Mac guitar, I became completely enamored with David Bowie. His music shaped my songwriting more than any other single musician. I found and honed my singing skills by singing his tunes.
In many ways, he was like a mentor to me and I'll never forget the hours I spent listening to his music.

First Lemmy and now David.
Era coming to a close.
but to me, anybody who ever sang a duet with the immortal Mr. Crosby is an Olympic-level musician...
... and "Little Drummer Boy" never sounded any better...
Edgar Degas: "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.... To draw, you must close your eyes and sing."
Georges Braque: "In art there is only one thing that counts: the bit that can’t be explained."
In many ways, he was like a mentor to me and I'll never forget the hours I spent listening to his music.
