I'm having a hard time trying to get the most out of the Ischell on a D hole. I realize that every instrument is going to be different to a certain extent but a starting place would be nice.
Any suggestions?

It is very guitar dependent, so you really have to keep trying. I did find that the sweet spot on my D hole seems to be next to the bass foot of the bridge on the same side as the soundhole. Also make sure you are getting the putty even all around, there are no gaps between the putty and the top, and the pickup is suspended with some air space between it and the top.

The one thing I noticed is that if you put it too close to the bridge, you get feedback like crazy. One possibility is to consider your guitars natural sound- Does it have a big high end ? Then try the pick up near the bass strings. If it has a big low end, try putting near the treble strings. I'm not saying that will work, but you can try it.
