The Tchan Tchou collection called La Gitane. Romano Baschepen , in particular Metro Swing, these guys have awesome chemistry ! Any Django, I couldn't care less about the recording quality with musical intent this clear.
Agree with @stuart. After hearing only Django for years, and not even knowing people were playing GJ until recent years, the new studio stuff is too polished and clean to me. Also the desire to play faster than anyone else, while impressive as hell to journeyman like me, leaves me feeling frustrated oftentimes. Live CDs and YouTube are the way to go. And jazz--Satchmo, Ella, Ellington, et al. Same for me with Americana genres: blues, folk, bluegrass, country, rockabilly. The more polished and produced, the less it appeals to me.
