Strings to obtain more bass?

Are there gypsy jazz strings that have more bass for when you are playing without a bass player?
I am using Argentine .011
Has anyone used phosphor bronze on their gypsy guitar?

  • I use Lenzer Fisoma Silk and Steel 11's and find them less bright than Argies

I've used Dogal 11's (silk and steel). They don't sound as bright as the Argies, and they seem to have a more balanced tone. Don't know about the bass but it's worth giving them a try.

You can also try to replace the lower strings with some heavier gauge. That might do the work.
  • Basic rule is the larger the diameter the more the lower part of the spectrum will be emphasized.
