I disagree with PDGs comments about the effect of the soundport I honestly can hear an increased bass response from the front with the soundport. If I close the sound port with my hand it effectively removes a tiny bit of bottom end from the front. Maybe that;s just my hearing though.

Also, meant to say I was dissatisfied with my Manouche Moreno and changed the bridge from what I believe was a Dupont ebony to a cheaper rosewood one which I got from China. I don't know if it's the lighter weight wood but it certainly improved the overall sound balance between lows, mids and highs although I would like a bit more bass. Maybe I'll add a soundport to the guitar ??
If you are talking about an oval hole, try enlarging soundhole
I used a drum sander attachment ($8 Harbor Freight)
for a drill to remove 3 of the Cigano 6 rings around the soundhole.
This has livened up the tone considerably, especially down
at the bass area. The sound hole is definitely too small.
Have all sanding going downward to avoid lifting the finish.
Do the last ring by hand, rounding the edge there.
