Speaking of forum idiosyncracies, it is interesting to note that 3/4 of today's birthdays are banned forum users (two of which are from 3 years ago.) Aren't you able to just delete their profiles?

@billyshakes yes, theoretically you could go through and delete all those spammer accounts but if they remain in the system it prevents them from reusing the same email address again in he future.

A decent captcha in the sign-up process should also prevent 99% of spam accounts, without the side effect of banned users littering up the database and UI.

.... something like, "click all the images with pictures of selmer guitars", for example...

@Wim Glenn I have the Google recaptcha enabled as well as some additional Gypsy jazz related questions that have to be answered. That, along with a database of blacklisted spammer ips and emails stops nearly all of them.
