Here is a list of some of my favorites from the last few years that haven't been mentioned yet.
Reverie - UltraFaux
Impromptu - Hot Club of Baltimore
Just One of Those Things - The Black Market Trust
Je Suis Swing - Avalon Jazz Band
Curiosity - Cat-A-Strophe
Paname - Jon Delaney
Travels - Rhythm Future Quartet
Claroscuro - Gonzalo Bergara Quartet
Chicken Do It - RP Quartet
Panamericano - Tcha Badjo
Entre Felix et Django - Christine Tassan et les Imposteures
Mississippi Gypsy - Russell Welch Hot Quartet
I Sing on the Cake - The Furbelows
When buying the "Rire avec Charlie" album mentioned earlier, stumbled across this nice video. It's quite amazing how successfully the pianist can substitute for both bassist and a rhythm guitar here, never would have thought that could work so well!
Indeed, I second that. Very classy and recorded with a very warm 'in the room' sound.
I would add in Jon Delaney's Paname, Drom Blanchard Trio 'Live 2015', Clément Reboul '& Ses Invités' and of course the latest by Tchavolo Schmitt 'Mélancolies d'un soir'.
I love Adrien Moignard's stuff but in my opinion, Nitcho Reinhard's Une Histoire CD is my favorite. Lots of good hidden gems in that album...great sense of melody and unique technique. It truly sounds like he has worked hard to find his own sound and it doesn't sound like he learned by trying to emulate others so much.
Wow, thanks everyone for your suggestions.
Have to say that on first impressions, I'm most impressed by the Hot Club of Baltimore, and Black Market Trust.
I love the slightly more modern edge of the former. Great to see late Django tunes like Fleché D'or getting an outing.
Again, many thanks.
