How popular is GJ in Spain?

Are there lots of venues that promote GJ? Are there some cities where it's very popular or not at all?

There is not such GJ scene in Madrid, just a few little half unknown groups playing sporadically and a big one named Menil, formed by the great guitarist Javier Sánchez and violinist Raúl Márquez:







Then, there is Barcelona, that is a world apart. They even have a GJ festival that is hold annually,organized by the guitarist Albert Bello in which they include masterclass with first class guitar players:
