Hello Djangobooks peeps,
I'd like to tell you all about a concert featuring three Gypsy Jazz groups on June 18th at the amazing (though not that easy to find!) ShapeShifter Lab. The bands are The Uptown Guitars, Featuring the guitar acrobatics Ric Molina, and Asher Ben-Or, backed by Ben Wood and Ben Rubens in the rhythm. Next up is Franglais - featuring Eve Seltzer's sultry and virtuosic vocals, and Dallas Vietty's Intricate Accordion Work, and finally, all the way from Paris France, the Daniel John Martins and Romane Quartet!
All this for 10$
ShapeShifter lab is 18 Whitwell Place, Brooklyn. This unqiue listening room and arts hub is owned by Matt Garrison (son of Jimmy Garrison who was Coltrane's bassist for many years) and Fortuna Song. Located just near the Union train stop on the R; this Whitwell is between 3rd and 4th ave, and between Carroll and Garfield Streets.
