Jr. Barnyard Pedal Example

I'm no expert on Django's electric sound but I found a pedal by Nocturne Brain called the Jr Barnyard that to me seems to work well with a Peche style pickup.

I'm sure it is not an exact match of an old Stimer pickup and amp but it gave my setup a bit of warmth and hair and it has a few knobs to tweak.

Here is a quick video I made with a couple of flubs but I wanted to play both notes and chords to let you hear it in both contexts. Rhythm track is pedal too.

Nice to have another sound to play around with. I think this sort of tone is perfect for bars and small places where a little bit of grit is almost welcome. Kinda adds to the ambiance.

I used a Hendrickson. While I own a tube amp (fairly heavy) I wanted to see if the Jr could pull off a tube sound with a solid state amp and I believe for my uses in loud environments this will do the trick or if I want that old vintage sound. To trick it out if I was super into the electric Django thing I'd buy a Peche or Stimer amp.

I bought a Junior Barnyard for the same reason. I’ve got a peche pickup that I run into an AER or Blues Junior valve amp. I wanted to be able to switch between the squeaky clean sound I get through the AER and have a sound something like the blues junior. At the moment it’s not really working for me but I do need to experiment a lot more. I may be asking too much cos the AER seems to me to be designed to sound great with mainly piezos. The barnyard sounds great with the Blues Junior. Not better though, just some different sounds.
