It’s thin pickings in London. Hobgoblin have a small range of Gitanes but nothing to get too excited about. Anyone wanting to sell a guitar in London is most likely going to head to Denmark Street, famous as a street full of guitar shops (although a shadow of what it once was). I have seen Selmer-style guitars in all of them at some point but it is a rare event. No-Tom’s is your best bet they specialise in vintage guitars.
I tried No-Tom's (hadn't heard of it before but realised when I got there that it is a renamed Vintage and Rare Guitars) but no joy.
Headed up to Hobgoblin with their range of Gitanes. The experience was useful for me as this is my first time actually holding a Sel-Mac style guitar.
Two were 14 fret small holes (Lulo Reinhardt and J Jorgensen) and then the 12 fret D hole G500. Interesting to note the differences between them and, I have to say, the sound of the short scale D hole is attractive. Overall I think the Jorgensen sounded the best, but the neck did not seem to agree with me too much (I'm used to a 1 and 11/16th Martin dreanought neck).
Anyway, thanks for the answers.
Steven
