I have a good friend who is Calabrian and getting a PhD in music who might be a good resource or have good connections for that work. Happy to make an introduction.
Good morning everybody, as you may see on pge 15 og the thread I'm the owner of a Caponnetto.
I've started working on it and I would like to buy a tailpiece.
My idea was to use a smaller tailpiece, since the design of the guitar and, searching on the web, I've found thise kind of tailpieces, mandolin/shell like. Similar to the mandoline ones, they have only six stings pins.
I was wondering if some of you may have spare parts like these to sell, since I've found a guitar with that tailpiece (the second photo) but It would cost me too much just to have a single piece and a guitar more.
My idea was to add one like th first photo, but If anyone has something to propose, similar tailpieces, or suggestions is welcome.
I can see how that tailpiece (with its implied mountain shape) would pair nicely aesthetically with the fretboard inlays on your guitar. It does seem like a pretty sharp bend to the strings though at the side. Not sure what stresses that would add to your guitar. Unfortunately, I don't know where you might source another like what you've found if you aren't interested in purchasing the other guitar. It might take time and searching of ebay, auctions, reverb, etc to wait for one to pop up for sale if there isn't someone already producing a repro. Good luck!
They used to have those on their website, now they only list the mandolin type with four string posts but it could be worth asking. Or, possibly buy two of the mandolin tailpieces (only 3 Euros each) and see if it is possible to remove two of the posts from one to fit in the other?
Or is the mandolin version a lot smaller?
Your only alternative is patience, as Billy says above these things do turn up online. Or even buy another guitar (if it is cheap enough) swap the tailpiece for a generic trapeze type and then sell it on.
Also might be worth asking the folks at Musikalia as they list some mandolin, mandola and bouzouki tailpieces, they may be able to supply a six-string version. The website is at:
Somebody has an amplified Caponnetto or similar guitars? Mine still has the slot for the pickup, the jack input and the volume control and I was planning to put it on again? Is this a good idea? Which pick up should I use? I don't want to spend a lot
Ciao @elianu - this guitar looks like your Caponnetto to me - note that it has the same 'double nut' with the spacer in ivory or bone and the wooden section above it too.
as for pickup choices- depends if you want to patch repair the top and use a super-thin pickup, or keep the hole and mount a pickup in it. There are plenty of cheap options on eBay, etc.
Yeah, you're right it is pretty similar to mine. The b/w binding it's the same and it also has that wooden rim on the back and top; the f holes are the same, now I'm rewondering If mine was born this way and If someone added a pickup later.
I've asked the previous owner for photos of the guitar back in the days but they didn't seem to find any.
By the way, the pick up hole on mine seems to fit a rather long than large pickup, more like the first one on the left.

Elianu, you might try Delaruelle for a tailpiece.

Thanks for the website tip, I could ask if they still have some left

or maybe email them a photo of what you want at:
info@musikalia.it
or as they are still based in Sicily they may know of a supplier.

Certainly falls under cheap category as long as they'll ship internationally and you have basic wiring skills

The Caponnetto in photo is yours?
