Since we've strayed a little bit from the original premise and something in the style of Robert Crumb reminded me of a comic I loved as a kid and I managed to dig up the cover with some musicians on it
Alan Ford comic book, massively popular for decades in former Yugoslavia and continues it's popularity in subsequent countries. Italian creation where it achieved a relative success but failed to catch on everywhere else where it was translated except Yugoslavia where it appeared in 1972 (originally issued in 1968 in Italy) and became a cultural phenomenon permeating language and everyday life probably unlike anything before and since.

Never heard about it. When I look at the covers, it seems to be kind of weird crime stories.
