Just heard on the news that Jean-Jacques Sempé has died with almost 90 years, one of the leading cartoonists worldwide, with dozens of covers for the New Yorker alone, his ""Little Nick" translated in 30 languages, and with legendary drawings of musicians as for example the following:
Another french Illustrator with much music in his work is Frank Margerin, born 1952. While Sempé's drawings show a more conservative urban scene with people playing piano, violin and other orchestral instruments, Margerin's staff consists of suburban punk and rock'n'roll addicts:

I love all his postcards and the book with musicians as subjects - although there is a remarkeable lack of guitarists in his work.

The panels are form "Les Bijoux de la Castafiore" which is possibly my favorite one. That album also has manouche playing guitar at the camp:
