congratulations to French saxophonist Sophie Alour [www.sophiealour.com] on winning the 2020 prize, awarded by the 'L’académie de jazz de France' and named for the famed guitarist.

Christian Escoude is the only Django-style guitarist I recognise on the list - but it’s good that Django is being celebrated as a significant figure in jazz and French music. His name should be associated with innovation.

If we aren't limiting it strictly to guitar, there is Roger GUERIN who played with Django in the later years. And Richard GALLIANO has musette roots and played with Bireli over the years including on Gypsy Project.
