Collins guitar for sale

I hate to sell this but there's no point in keeping it as i am endorsing AJL guitars and have no use for two of the same type of guitars.

If i understand correctly, this is one of first selmer style guitars built by michael collins.

It comes with a Schatten pickup, I am not sure what model, as it was installed by the previous owner. I'm running it without a battery and it works fine, you can hear it plugged in through an AER amp here:

The guitar is in excellent playing condition. It has minor wear from playing of course. There are a few extra minor wear marks caused by the previous owner's picking technique... see the pic below

the fingerboard is a bit thicker (on the recent collins that i've seen the fingerboards have been much thinner) like the original selmer guitars if i'm not mistaken, it will easily accomodate a stimer pickup.

the dot is on the 9th fret.

This guitar has lots of history, it was used by Ritary Gaguenetti for his DFNE concert in October 2004. You can see a video of him warming up with it here:

It was used for numerous concerts for the Ritary Ensemble's tour in Quebec in april 2006. It was used by Ritary to record a djangobooks method book that is in the works

In June 2006, Andreas Oberg used it for his concert at Django in June, you can hear/see it here (he's using a Schertler Basik to amplify the guitar)

btw i've since removed the woodywoodpecker stickers (therefore significantly reducing the value of the guitar, or else i'd have to ask for at least 9 959.99$)

dennis, what pick do you use?

i'll generally use anything that "feels" good at the moment to me... that really is the best answer that i can give... generally they're fairly thin / small picks... right now i really like the dunlop 1.5 gator picks, and i play with the side.. i don't know what the material is made of, but it feels really great, unlike the standard dunlop tortex 1.5, the edge of the pick is really smooth and rarely gets "caught" in the strings... and with the side of pick, it gives a nice lead sound and is equally wonderful for rhythm...

i also sometimes use dunlop JAZZ III picks (the red ones).. you get a lot of definition from these picks but they wear out fast and aren't too good for certain styles of rhythm playing...

i'll also sometimes use wegen twins, which to me definitely gives a nice round sound.. BUT i especially like thinner picks because i am starting to incorporate a lot of my "old alternate / sweep picking" techniques into my playing and thick picks just don't work for this style of picking (too much squeaky tone and not enough definition)

...and as a great companion to Dennis' Collins-
I'm selling the de-luxe Cedar Creek case that was custom made for my 14-fret Collins selmeroid, (which has same dimensions as Dennis'). It is heavy plywood construction and has arched back as well as top, with thick, dense padding on the interior back and sides. It was made for the selmer-size, but fits a 14-fret Favino-size very well; the fit is more snug around the sides (duh!). The Collins is not lose, but does not compress the sided padding, while the Favino compresses nicely. Brown faux alligator, leather handle. Very good condition with a few white scuff marks which should rub out. No tears or dings ... Check the photos.
$170 obo. I simply do not use the case as I have a gig bag and another lighter-duty case.

You're really tempting me, Dennis...I've been looking into buying something Favino-style, but I've played this guitar, and it's great! You might be hearing from me soon. Do you use the Schatten much? If so can you say something about the sound, and any feedback issues? The youtube link in your first post doesn't work anymore...
