Jojo it all looks all pretty standard in that Taverne de Cluny video, was there a particular piece of the comping you were asking about?
@Wim Glenn I’m struggling to move into comping and view it as a ‘dark art’ 🙂 and would be grateful for any pointers as to the chord extensions/substitutions used (I.e showing the varieties of chords used in certain songs) . There’s comping stuff on the DC music school stuff but I would love an explanation of why, in one particular song, certain extensions are used starting with an explanation of what Django used then how that’s been varied across the subsequent decades by the name guitarists out there .
The stuff around 1:32 is v interesting, btw
@pdg i seem to remember seeing it somewhere in Eb and it would make sense for using the open strings of D and G. I seem to remember the Django solo makes use of the open top three strings? Would imagine if you were a guitarist hearing those licks in the ‘40s you’d be freaking out like Les Paul said he did…
