Case for 17” Archtop?

Hiya

I have a 17” L5-style full-depth archtop guitar that needs a case, hardshell or padded-softcase ideally (I kinda don’t want to spend $$$$ for a custom carbon fiber case).

Does anybody have a recommendation of what to buy and where?

You can probably just grab any hardshell case made for a L5.

At archtop.com, which specializes in what it says in the URL, the measurements for a 17" L5-appropriate case are "Interior dimensions: Upper bout: 13 1/2", Lower bout 17 1/4", Depth over bridge: 5 1/2", Overall length: 44 " Width at peghead: 5 3/4"".

On that basis, the TKL cases marked for "jumbo 6/12," such as the TKL 8820/LTD, should work--at least, the dimensions look pretty close. In my experience, the tricky part is the body depth, since you don't wan't down-pressure on the bridge.

For just around town, I use an old-model TKL 5415 gig bag, which is technically for dreads but is a tight fit for my old Epi Broadway. Good padding, lots of pocketses for stuff.

Got this today (was back-ordered for months). Fits my archtop perfectly, yay.
