What happens if the original guitars turn up with the same numbers as the Baraults?
Good question. As far as I know these were numbered according to gaps in the records - see the F. Charle book - but how accurate were those records? One has to ask, if these numbers were missing from the note books where they kept sales records recording customers names through to # 858 there must be a reason why some were not entered. There are many gaps in the lists, description of model, build date, shipping date and customer's name, in many cases only partial information, but why allocate numbers at all if some were then skipped past?
Or to put it another way, does anyone know if any numbered Selmers not on the list and previously thought to be non-existant have been discovered?
