Django Festival in Turin, September 15, 16 and 17 2006

The 5th Internazional Jazz Manouche Django Reinhardt Festival will take place in Turin from September 15-17 2006. The streets and clubs of Turin’s multi-ethnic nightlife - from via Borgo Dora (Balòn) to the suggestive surroundings of the Cortile del Maglio - will host bands from all over Europe, showcasing the music of the Manouche people, a music born form the union between their own Django Reinhardt with the 30s American Jazz, French Musette Waltz and the Gypsy tradition.
In addition to its music, the festival will feature screenings of documentaries, an exceptional occasion to discovery the traditions and fascination of the gitano people, as well as exhibits by masters luthiers.
