It's pretty rare to see a Django solo played using alternate picking, and still sound convincing. Good job!

And on Taylor guitars! Nicely done.

A latecomer from Hamburg! "Django forever" with January's Song of the Month:

    Jeffrey Weiss - Gitarre

    Marcel Weiss - Gitarre

    Mirano Weiss - Gitarre

    Oliver Zierke - Bass

In the informations about the lineup for "Seul ce soir" (February Song of the Month) there was written "Robert" instead of "Mirano" Weiss. Because the persons in both videos are the identical, I think, Robert is Mirano's "gadjo" first name.

These guys are great, thanks Willie! I'm still trying to recover from being blown away by their version of Seul Ce Soir, now there's another stunning tune from them to absorb. I particularly love how they incorporate the tasty archtop so seamlessly into the mix.

@MikeK You’re welcome! There is more material of those guys on YouTube; you just have to enter „Django Forever“, „Les hommes du swing“, „Sinti Hamburg“, „Moreno Weiss“ (I guess this is more correct than „Mirano“, don‘t know who was writing all the informations for their videos) or „Jeffrey Weiss Hamburg“. My favorite tune at the moment is this here:

The Hamburg Weiss family is blessed with dozens of fantastic musicians of all ages, playing accordion, violin, saxophone, double bass, and mostly guitar. And singing. Two years ago my former bandmate Manusch Weiss and I met by accident at luthier Karsten Schnoor; Manusch was accompanied by bis 12 year old son. It really blew my mind when I heard that young boy playing Django Solos on his old flattop.

Seems like Roberto is a different person? There are two older videos with a different rhythm guitar player who's listed as Roberto. Newer videos seem to be with Mirano. Thanks for letting us know about them, Willie. How many more of these amazing musicians and bands are out there without me knowing about them... just me wondering. It's amazing.

There is a Robert Weiss who played with "Django de luxe" as far as I know, a band with varying musicians over the years. But the Robert in "seul ce soir" and the Mirano in "I'll see you ..." seem to be the same person.

My contacts to the Hamburg Sinti scene are very loose and almost gone, Manusch and I played/sang together 18 years ago. But I am planning a totally acoustic quintet project for the second half of the year (if both the pandemic and the rising storm in eastern europe make it possible) with Manusch on guitar and his cousin Kako on saxophone. We will meet in some weeks with befriended trombone and double bass players to jam at get to know everybody; so maybe I have the opportunity to clear all of the name confusions.

I could start a new thread with less known musicians and ensembles of the Hamburg Sinti scene, if there would be interest .

If people play at this level, I'd love to find out about others.

These two videos on Django Forever channel both have the same line up, with Mirano on rhythm. Unless there is a different version of Seul with Robert that I didn't see.
