I came across this, Montaigne Sainte Genevieve, that Etienne performed on a French TV show by Robert J Duval in 1967. Is it the earliest video ( or recording? ) of it? I particularly like the B section as it shows how he sweep picks, the left hand fingering.

Someone has also done a transcription ( separate video)from the same show of Nuages
There’s not much to go on about him; I did find an old post by Michael from 2007 which gives a bit of info about the man

Wow nice find.
Kinda of not sure to change my personal transcription of this recording from what I THOUGHT he was playing to what he actually plays there. I thought he was changing positions and including the note G on the low string, but he stays all in one position and actually plays a C note in what Jojo is calling the "sweep" picking part. I was hearing that as G major triad so was playing B. Try to play the B note with his "sweep" fingering. Makes it much harder to play. How did Django play it? We will never know.
I just found 2 Bousquet EPs on Spotify a few weeks ago. It is more electric but still he was important in keeping the spirit of Django alive when most of the world had moved on from him.
A nice recording of a very special player. Thanks so much for sharing, Jojo. Hard to imagine that there was ever TV this good....
The clouds of smoke on the film reminded me how much I DON"T miss people smoking on gigs.
