i have been using soundslice for a long time. now the book mark feature seems to have disappeared. anyone know how to make it work?

Bookmarks are superseded by the pratice lists feature. All of your bookmarks are now on your Bookmarks practice lists.

but i cannot add new ones, correct?

You should be able to add a new bookmark by clicking on the "Practice Lists" button at the top right of a slice, and then clicking on "Bookmarks".
