Souvenir of Toronto aka Souvenirs de Toronto aka Torontoi Emlek

I keep coming across various big names playing this, it's a lovely waltz, written quite recently, I think, by Sándor Jàróka

<edit for a bum note & maybe should be a Bbm6 in bar 13>

Different folk play the moving voice under the static Dm and Gm chords in different ways - any corrections or ideas welcome. -A-

    Sándor Járóka jun., Hungarian violinist and composer, 1954 - 2007.

    "Torontoi Emlek", played by himself:

    @AndyW Thank you for the hint, a beautiful waltz. Didn't know the tune, although there are lots of videos on youtube: Paulus Schäfer, Fapy Lafertin, Feigeli Prisor ...

    @AndyW Fantastic band, and I love the two singers! Open and free voices, clear but smooth timbre. Give me more!

    Saw Tim Kliphuis and Jimmy Grant perform this tune tonight in DC. It was a fantastic performance of this song--truly a highlight of the evening. The rest of the concert was also lovely. There are still a few dates left on the U.S. East Coast. Check them out if they are near your area. If you already saw them, what did you think?

    don't know where the Glasgow video went to - here's a Tim K version:

    A few pics from last night (Blues Alley prohibits video recording)

    Pretty cool how two instruments, as Tim said "we are 10 strings", can carry the music fully. You don't really feel like you're missing anything. Credit to both of them for being great accompanists thou. Tim was a perfect rhythm player while backing Jimmy.
