I just moved to Cleveland, OH from the PDX area in July 2006 - used to live in Vancouver, WA. I really enjoy playing Gypsy jazz - I am a guitar player. In the Cleveland area, I have djammed with Jim (from Spike's Big Adventure) and the band Amerinouche when they were out this way playing gigs. Had a blast playing with these folks. Jim is a great person who seems to really enjoy Gypsy jazz. I am just getting settled into my house so I have not done much searching on other Gypsy jazz players in the area. But I did meet another player who has a Sel-Mac style guitar. Would love to connect with you, especially to play some music.
Let me know when you will be in the area and we can arrange to meet.
Sorry to resurrect this, fellas, but wanted to see if any GJ guys are still around the 216?
I'm Nicky, I play and sing in a mildly Django inspired local band, it's more on the indie-rock side, but definitely with some la pompe, and I'm learning the purer stuff on my own. Trouble is, there's only one guy around that I know who is as fascinated by gypsy jazz as I am, Mick Miller (who makes quite incredible tube amps here on the east side), but I've lost touch with him as well.
