After a long time coming, it came together in the best possible way I think.
@DoubleWhisky recently involved his friend and a bandmate Rebekka on violin so she recorded the solo section and he added guitars to it as well, acoustic and electric. He also did mix and mastering.
This started as a remote collaboration in 2021.
Willie Jakob, from Hamburg Germany, suggested to cover this traditional Gypsy song. I came up with the arrangement, using traditional instrumentation (until A. Lautner brought in his Fender Jaguar with vibro effect:) ) but wanted arrangement to be a fresh take. The first part of intro is in 9/8s, then it goes to 4/4 (maybe it could even be heard as 2/4) time.
This song became one of most satisfying projects I was ever associated with.
So, in order of appearance on the track, we have:
Buco Bucolini, USA, percussion, voice (effects...?, rhythm and melody guitars, arrangement Buco Bucolini - YouTube
Jason Gekker, USA, upright bass Jason Gekker - YouTube
Andy Whiteford, Scotland, clarinet Andrew Whiteford - YouTube
Willie Jakob, Germany, main vocals, harmony vocals Willie Jakob - YouTube
Rebekka Wagner, Germany, violin Miracle Kicks - YouTube
A. Lautner, Germany, solo guitar (acoustic and electric), mix and mastering A. Lautner - YouTube

So many cool things. Love the surf guitar accents. The intro is super fun. Violin is a great addition. Clarinet is also just right where I want it to be. All the instruments mix together so well I wouldn't be able to tell this wasn't recorded together. Nice work on the vocals, Willie, to include the harmonies.
Just all together WELL DONE to all the musicians who participated.
Interesting that since I started sharing this others mentioned something similar, how it all gels so well that it's hard to believe it's a remote collaboration. Thanks, Bill!
Had much fun doing this, thanks for the idea @Buco!
A treat for tired ears.
Thanks for taking interest!
