Michael Dunn bridge chipping?!

DragonPLDragonPL Maryland✭✭ Dupont MD 50-XL (Favino), Michael Dunn Stardust, Castelluccia Tears, Yunzhi gypsy jazz guitar, Gitane DG-320, DG-250M and DG-250

I just acquired a Michael Dunn guitar via an online sale. I notice on the bridge, there's a chipping on the B string slot...hopefully it can be seen in the picture.

Is this a defect or by design?

I tried searching other Dunn pictures to see if they have this too. It's hard to tell, I think this one has that as well: https://www.djangobooks.com/Item/michael-dunn-mystery-pacific#gallery-1

If it's not a defect, what's the purpose of this chipping just on the B string slot?

If it intonates well, I wouldn't worry about it. That is probably why it was done (if intentional) in the first place.

I agree with juanerer, that looks like a deliberate small notch, to improve the intonation.

Yep, looks intentional. Does it intonate fairly well?

Ok I would not mess with it unless you just want to put on a new bridge that is the only way to "fix" that but again it looks intentional not a wood defect

Same "issue" here, Dunn Mystery Pacific commissioned directly - Michael confirmed that was intentional for intonation.

If you look at compensated archtop bridges it's normal for the B string to sit a little further back than the G and high E. It does look a little wonky/amateurish but if it works it works I guess.
