I get great break up with a peche magnetic pickup (or any stimer style pickup) into a fender blues junior. I owned a junior barnyard but the difference in tone was so negligible that I couldn’t be bothered to use it in the end. Sounded great with or without it. Just different. Some of the gear out there is strictly for the cork sniffers. Maybe the archtop guys notice a bigger effect.
