I also think Sam plays whatever people want him to take for a test drive in the moment. First I heard of him on YouTube it seemed like it was always someone else's newly built guitars.
He's currently mostly playing a Rino Van Hooijdonk. He stayed with my wife and I during his visit to Rochester for Stéphane Wrembel's Django a GoGo road show last October. He was glowing about that guitar since it was the first one he had played when he was introduced to this music. He loves his CB, but there seems to be a special connection to what he's playing now.
Thanks, Buco. Very interesting. I think it was the rosette that got me! I seem to be developing a mild obsession with round hole manouche guitars. I missed my chance to buy Paul Mcevoy's mystery Dimauro with the neck repair that was floating around here a few months ago at a bargain price, and am kicking myself a bit!

I'll second that. Similarly, you can see that Brad Brose had CB do an interesting rosette design around his DiMauro-inspired Corazon as well as unique fret markers. Nice to see people bringing their own personality into the instruments they commission. Also nice to see the fine artistry of the builders who build them.

Here’s the Chaput’s Selmer 575 recently.
I like that he went down his own path in this world of endless oval vs D discussions.
Exactly.
