I watched this when it came out. Nice concert. For me, the surprise was the rhythm section or whenever Stochelo and Rocky would trade duties. Regular Rosenberg trio has the best rhythm section in business; rock solid but still fluid, super fast tempos but somehow they make it swing so nice and light etc...they're so unbelievably locked it all the time. In this case it wasn't so. Of course this is still world class but it wasn't what I'm used to hearing from regular Rosenberg Trio. And that was interesting to me to see that even these world class players who I'm a fan of, can't just automatically switch on the magic every time.
when I think Rocky Gresset, I think archtop, so maybe when playing on a Selmer style guitar he was a little out of practice. it's all sounding ok to me, tbh.
I mean, it's hard to criticize anything these three do. It's sounding more than ok and then some. I enjoyed it and people in the comments are gushing over the performance and rightfully so. It's when you're used to hearing total perfection that these things catch my attention. For example just a few seconds before the 2 minutes mark you see Stochelo making a stink face because he just played something that didn't quite work out a few seconds earlier. I don't think I've ever noticed that with him.
On the other hand their acoustic sound is excellent. I wonder if that's just the Carlos sensor I noticed or there's something else in the chain?

Buco, I had the same thought. Stochelo seemed a little off to me as well.
