Julian Lage on tone and practicing

edited March 17 in Technique Posts: 5,028

Far from our genre but very close in goals. If you look at his right hand, he's floating most of the time. Several great nuggets in just a few minutes each.

And an interview but also to just enjoy his playing, which I'm constantly amazed by. Because when he's improvising, so often he seems to be simply channeling something that he even isn't aware of in his playing.

Today as I was playing in a very loud room where I usually go all out, I was thinking about his advice to simply feel the guitar resonating against your body and that immediately made me lay back without (I believe) losing any volume. When he talks about it in his super calming Yoda like voice, it might sound all esoteric and more philosophical than practical, but it's actually a very practical advice.
