Well, not Gypsy Jazz, but the Blues was the life center of this really influencing british band leader, song writer, singer, guitarist, piano, organ and harp player. Many important guitar players wandered through his various ensembles, so I think I can post the BBC obituary here in this forum that is ran and frequented by friends of the guitar - and the Blues, I presume:

    Thanks for posting this, Willie. I hadn't heard. I'm imagining that a lot of GJ players have at some point in their musical journey found themselves heavily into the blues. I know I have. And clearly Mayall played a huge part in turning on generations of music lovers to great blues. His band members make up a who's who of iconic masters--Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce, Mick Fleetwood, the list goes on & on. RIP John Mayall.
