My FU model is designed for this, it has a good sound both acoustically and amplified with a pickup.The bracing is a mix of ladder and longitudinal, the design is archtop but the top is heat bent, all to have a good mix of timbre.The raised fingerboard and adjustable bridge make it very comfortable and practical. It was also for sale here at Michael's a few years ago.

Thank you for all your great advice. After speaking with some of you offline and doing some research.. i have decided to use my strat for jazz and spend a little more on a gj guitar ($2,000-$4,000).
I have been told not to make a blind purchase online and try the guitars. I am based in north carolina so i have been looking up luthiers around my area. I was recommended one in maryland and i contacted one in montreal, but if anyone knows of any places where i can try gj guitars near my area, please let me know!!!
The thing that a lot of folk overlook when buying these things from a luthier is that these guitars need to be maintained from time to time and that’s best done by the original luthier, so I would put proximity at the top of your list.
Maryland may be as close to NC as you’ll get in this game and assuming this is Craig Baumgarner he’s one of the best in the US, you can’t go wrong with him.
Take care if this is your first gypsy jazz guitar - they’re tough to resale so it would be wise to get a budget Chinese-made one first before making a big commitment.
