I used to install AV gear and had setup and heard a fair share of expensive stuff. One of my last jobs had a Klipsch Cornwall speaker. The presence that those boxes created paired with an excellent amp was just wow. Made me want to own a pair. What people don't realize is that with excellent stereo gear it's not so much the detail and clarity of the sound that you gain. Which you do, but what sets that stuff above is the sense of realism they bring to your room, you feel it almost as a physical presence.
That's my regret that we don't have Django recordings from say early 60s, recording technology had much improved by then and it would be amazing to have that listening experience.

Beautifully stated, Buco. Honestly, I'm pretty simple and run the Fisher through some Bose bookshelfs and a woofer I bought in the late 90s when I first moved out; in addition to what you said about realism, I've always lived in fairly small places so the amp/speaker combo works so great when everything's spaced out properly as well for the proper angles. I also run lossless digital through a pair of Event studio monitors I got for super cheap back in my music retail days that I originally bought for recording but I've also grown to love what the pure transparency/flatness brings to more modern/modern-recorded music (especially electronic music). Either way tho, nothing beats the Fisher or any tube amp for vinyl or even CDs - that warmth is just irreplaceable.
@Mitch this is truly amazing. I know this stuff has been reissued before, that 'Dernier Django' CD is amazing- but to have an album like this is so special for our times. It really does feel like an album too, the players are the same, his tone is the same, it feels like one big session. I love this so much. Thanks for your work on it. I ordered my copy here in Toronto!
