Adrien Moignard DC Music Videos with Favino Guitar

Hi guys,

Question that I've been arguing over with friends .....

Regarding the excellent series of DC Music videos produced with Adrien Moignard (please see below for example).

Adrien Moignard - Seul Ce Soir (Jazz Manouche)

I could swear he's using nylon strings for at least the top B and E strings? Does anyone have any thoughts or does anyone actually know?

Wonder whether Denis has any ideas?

Many thanks guys

Interesting, I could see how you think that.

    The playing is so ridiculous.

It kind of sounds like nylon strings, but I don't think it is after comparing to his actual nylon string playing. He used a nylon string guitar on his duo album with Diego Imbert. Here's a clip where he talks about it (in French). https://youtu.be/yGaB54BhehI?si=XmJhfUM2oQDcOlcL

Thanks for your input. Yes, his playing is ridiculously good. He just plays it so smooth but the attack and tone sound so much like nylon strings in some sections.

Steel strings. But I've had people ask my guitar is using nylon strings, several times. Whatever it is in the design of these guitars, it makes the string attack sound similar. You get the slap of the string against the fretboard. Which also has to do with the picking technique. And the biggest reason of all, the best in the genere can get this beautiful round tone in the single notes playing (which I keep trying to hunt down).

This doesn't sound remotely like nylon strings to me. 🤷‍♂️

I've had random people at gigs ask if GJ guitar had nylon strings, too, but I reckon they're more confused by the look and shape of the headstock / tuners than by their ears.

I can understand it. This is part of the story on how Willie Nelson ended up playing nylon string guitar. He’s a huge Django fan and wanted to capture part of that sound. He didn’t know exactly what Django played, but he knew it was different from a normal steel string flat top acoustic guitar.

This one phrase made my ear go "how does do that?" so I figured it out and decided to make a video out of it. It's the walkdown back to C; C/E Ebo Dm G C, kinda like 3 6 2 5 1

I should've done this with the bit you played and then purged the channel. I have it recorded luckily but will have to figure it out from scratch.

PS which is my backhanded compliment to say I really like your playing
