Imagine your first guitar lesson and this is your homework. Doing this exercise using rest strokes is sure to be good for gypsy technique, especially with all the double-downs in these patterns. I like the way Jimmy organizes his scales without the huge finger stretches some jazz educators have demanded from their students in the past. He refers to each position based on the low string starting point so the student is learning their scale degrees for each key.
