12 fret D hole vs 14 Fret Oval

I'm planning on buying my first gypsy guitar soon- either a 12 fret D or a 14 fret oval. I understand the tonal differences between a D and an Oval as well as how the sound projects. If I am to own only one guitar, --- Is having 12 frets vs 14 frets a real limitation?

Is there any advantage of having 12 frets over 14 frets?

Having tried both, I like being able to easily reach the high frets on the 14 fret models.
And the shorter scale of the 12 fret is handy for long stretches.
You can probably get a D-hole in both versions but I`ve never seen a twelve fret Oval.
    Good luck!
