What key do you guys call Si Tu Savais in? Seems like most people I know choose B Minor. The recording itself is actually closer in tuning to the key of C, 26 cents sharp vs 60 cents flat to get to the key of B. I've kinda gotten used to playing it in both, it does make me wonder what the original intention was.

I've always only heard it being played in B-. Which recording are you referring to?
Thanks for your input Buco, I should probably just call it in B and get comfortable there.
DFB has it in Cminor. The violinist I play with calls it in that key while all of the guitar players in my area call it in Bminor. Great tune, super cool B section.
I'm logging in after 5-6 years to say this.
Si Tu Savais should only be played in Bm. It has a distinct melancholic feel in that key that goes away as soon as you transpose even by a half tone.
I don't know why but it is true. Perhaps sort of like F major allegedly evoking of nature.
If your singer ask to sing it in a different key, ask for a different singer.
Man, did he rip that B section during the head, wow.
I don't know, seems unlikely they would've played it in C-. It's just not a painful key. There's a lick Django plays at 1:50 that sounds like it might have open notes, that would be a good clue, if someone wants to do the detective work...(but I gotta get to bed)
Welcome back @husy "If your singer ask to sing it in a different key, ask for a different singer" 😂
Bm is the key. It provides a dark melancholic mood to the tune; plus for guitarists it allows playing a seriously dark G7 triad chord letting the open B and E strings ring out.
Cheers Phil
Yes - all my band friends and jam musicians agree for the last 22 years - yes - Bm needs that darker sound!
