I know it was said before, and you may already be doing it, but I found that emails were not the best communication method with AJ. I don’t think he monitors his inbox and it seems to get full. He always promptly communicated with me over the phone.
Absolutely, he said its gonna be about three months when I ordered it. Its only been a month and he said he's half way done. Great communication and very accommodation, I've flip flopped a lot on the specs but he was really nice about it. Duponte make Busato copies too, but they are way out of my price range. Another option is JWC, but I ended up with Risto, will update the forum when I get it, super excited.
Just wanted to pile on, I have had three custom guitars built...two by Vit Cach who was originally reluctant because of the language barrier between English and Czech (there was no language issue once we started) and Craig Bumgarner. Both Luthiers seemingly couldn't wait to show me what they were up to and communication with both couldn't have gone better and I have guitars I love. That should be the standard as one is trusting the luthier to deliver and has left a deposit. Anything less is unsatisfactory. I will not order a guitar from AJL after seeing this when there are great luthiers whose priority is build a great instrument and make the customer happy. It reminds me of hiring a musician, why work with a great musician with an attitude when there are so many great ones who also make your life easier.
tried 3 days of calling and another email…does anyone know if he is on holiday or something?

I just spoke to him yesterday. He was floating on a vintage, wooden boat made by CG Pettersson in 1927, on the sea, near his village in Kokkola, Finland. Apparently the sun won't go down again until next month.
I was requesting an update on my blue guitar, because he had trouble with it turning green, so he had to contact another luthier I put him in touch with (Steve Grimes - archtop builder who built a blue guitar for the Chinery collection), for methods to keep the guitar blue. He responds best on his Facebook messenger account for his name.
Well isn’t that nice. Easy enough to drop a line and let me know he is out of pocket for some time. As I have said before no luck on Facebook messenger, however got an email on the 10th saying it will go out but needed my personal info to ship. Provided a response immediately and I got an email UPS shipment created, after several days they haven’t recorded a package received. Another email sent to see what is going on….
