If a bebop or other jazz song sounds good with a 2/4 feel, rather than a 4/4 feel, the regular gypsy jazz rhythm guitar/bass combination should work well, I think. That's certainly true in Djacob's group's rendition of "This I Dig of You," above! (Choosing the right tempo, I think, may help to make the 2/4 rhythm work.)
’Punch Trio’—Great combination. Swinging all the way. I am a firm believer that most instruments would fit the ‘Hot Club’ rhythm style. I used to play in a 5 piece band consisting of 2 guitars —gypsy style—double bass / trombone / tenor sax. All excellent musicians. Worked wonderfully. One memorable gig was when we backed Al Grey—trombone —top American jazzer who played with the top guys. One number he turned around to the rhythm section and said ‘Who needs a drummer!’ Made my day. I am all for mixing instruments into the gypsy jazz style. When people hear it they love it.

I don't want to listen because I don't want to buy one.
I wish I hadn't sold my chromatic harmonica because if I had it I could try to play it and realize it's hard and not want to buy one now.

Please no tin whistles.
I'd like to hear some more cimbalom. It's a wild thing. There is some on Matelo Ferret's recordings but why not to revive it?

Cimbalom was featured fairly regularly at Green Mill in Chicago during Alfonso Ponticelli's set.
Another Punch Trio video is out by the way
Cimbalom, classic campfire instrument lol 😂
Great anecdote! Love it!
Thanks Buco! Yes, this time we have dared with a classic by Hank Mobley: Funk in a deep freeze.
